What is the Amethyst BioMat™?

Tourmaline Crystals - Nature’s Source of FIR and Negative Ions (Mimi BioMat™ and Pillow only)

Tourmaline is prized as a beautiful, semiprecious gem. Now, as a mineral, it has become a focus of research at universities and research centers worldwide. The reason - infrared Tourmaline is the only mineral on Earth to produce a perpetual electrical charge and is also a natural (non-manufactured) source of negative ions and far-infrared (FIR) rays. It is known as well to be helpful for:

* improving circulation

* strengthening the immune system function (Niwa Institute for Immunology, Japan. Int J. Biometeorol 1993 Sep; 37(3) 133-8).

In 1986, it was found in a research station in Japan that even if tourmaline was broken down into smaller pieces, a positive and a negative electrode existed on each end of the crystal, and the electrodes never disappeared unless the tourmaline was boiled near 1000°C. Tourmaline is the only crystal known to carry both the positive and negative charge. In addition, when the positive and the negative electrodes of a tourmaline crystal were connected to each other, it was shown to generate a low current of electricity of 0.06mA. (Note: In Drs. Neher and Sakmann's work, the electricity required for a cell to open or close an ion channel was 0.03 to .1 V.) Tourmaline is thus able to generate the micro-amounts of electricity needed to create both positive and negative ion channels. These channels are responsible for cellular communication and transfer the neurotransmitters, enzymes, hormones, and all the other chemicals which regulate life through the cells of the body. For example, glucose, sodium, calcium, and chloride are transferred and regulated through ionic channels. For these reasons:
